Hi Everyone, I have hashimotos and the last few weeks I've been feeling really rough. Very tired, cannot loose weight, kind of weird dizzy eye things, head rushes and total exchaustion really. So I thought it was my thyroid.....
A friend suggested I add to my thyroid blood tests, which I did this morning, my Vit B12 and other stuff....
My VitB12 result is this: 126 range 100-900
Could such a low result be the cause of my problems and could this be the cause of my symptoms?
Excuse my ignorance on thIs.....I've been trying to wrap my head around thyroid issues and now I think I have more to learn.
Thank you massively for any help.
I've bookedto see my DR tomorrow at 4.40.... what should I ask them To Test?

Hi Zuzka1 having Hashimoto's may put you at risk of developing a Vitamin B12 deficiency and your level is at the bottom of the scale.
Symptoms of B12 deficiency tend to develop slowly and may not be recognised immediately. As the condition worsens, common symptoms include:
Weakness and fatigue
Light-headedness and dizziness
Palpitations and rapid heartbeat
Shortness of breath
A sore tongue that has a red, beefy appearance
Nausea or poor appetite
Weight loss
Diarrhoea
Yellowish tinge to the skin and eyes
If low levels of B12 remain for a long time, the condition also can lead to irreversible damage to nerve cells, which can cause the following symptoms:
Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet
Difficulty walking
Muscle weakness
Irritability
Memory loss
Dementia
Depression
Psychosis
Make a list of your symptoms and present this to your doctor.
Do you know if your Folate level was tested?
To determine whether you have P.A. you will need to be tested for Intrinsic Factor Antibodies (IFA).
I'm not a medically trained person but there are others on here who will give you good advice
Some people don't believe that B12 can be absorbed sublingually. All the studies I've seen have been in people with low B12, but they haven't determined if they have a genuine absorption problem.
A lot of a sublingual dose will be swallowed. If you had no absorption problems then I would expect you to absorb a lot of that swallowed dose and to have sky-high levels of B12 in your blood.
The fact that you don't suggests, very strongly to me, that you do have an absorption problem and could well benefit from B12 injections.
