Appeal to veterans

I had my first three monthly after loading last Wednesday and on lead up to it had had a couple of days where I felt tired but nothing that a few squirts of spray didn’t deal with . A week after I feel pretty rubbish, heart palpitations back and sweating and absolutely shattered. Felt like this after loading and lasted a couple of weeks then felt marvellous. Firstly is this something some of you experienced? Is this something you still experience? Is it my body getting used to having regular b12? I am taking folic acid supermarket and have made sure eating potassium rich foods. Any feedback gratefully received.😀

People do respond very differently to B12 treatment so it may, unfortunately be the case that you have a short period of felling awful before you actually start to feel better each time you have an injection.

Hi @av42 I agree with Gambit62 it is not uncommon to have "peaks and troughs" as the B12 gets to work repairing the damage caused by the deficiency.

You are doing the right things

I think I can class myself as a "veteran" having had P.A. for 46 years and am now over 75.

Thank you both for replying. I was determined that if it happened this time I’d be prepared and not get too down or worried and I know when I first had loading the reason I joined was because I felt so alone as I thought it would be immediate and the doctors had made a terrible mistake and were actually killing me . The support on here is gratefully received and makes it a lot more bearable. However everyone’s symptoms are different and reactions to treatment are different we’re all sharing the journey. Thank you again .

Yes I get like this and have done ever since starting treatment about 4/5 years ago. I keep a graph and rate my symptoms and energy levels between 1 - 10 , fill it in every day and try to get a picture of whats changed and what my best times are, it sometimes helps my GP to see whats going on as well.Hope you feel a little more energized soon

All the best

Thank you for also replying. I’m glad their are others who actually get like this . To be honest I thought I might be the only person who doesn’t look forward to their injections. Although I know what a difference it makes to the weeks in between getting over this hurdle at the beginning after not feeling as rubbish to start with makes it quite a mental challenge as well as physical. I have to just tell myself don’t panic and get on with it and look forward to the energy to come . 😄
