Is a b12 level of 40 low?

Exactly what was tested, what were the units (e.g. pmol/L) and what was the range (e.g. 140-600)?

If the test was for serum B12 then the result is the lowest I've ever heard of. It it was Active B12 then it may be normal.

My serum test was 40 in 2007. Doctors said one of the lowest they had seen, i was very ill and now have 6 weekly injections.

You need to ask exactly what was tested as fbirder says.

Mine was 19 when I was confirmed with B12 deficiency and PA. I felt fine after the initial barrage of injections but as I can only get them every 3 months now I am considering going privately for my injections.

Hi

The test was for active b12 and range is 25-70 pmol/L

Mine was 40

When it's between these figures it's automatically sent for MMA analysis

My MMA result is 294 so it's elavated
