update on tests.

Evening all,

Just after a little advice really and give a bit of an update.

My last post mentioned I was to have homocysteine and MMA tests as well as my doctor agreeing to increase my injections to every 8 weeks.

Well I went to the hospital to have the bloods taken (as homocysteine has to be in the lab within 30 mins). As I was 9 weeks from my last injections I then had my next injection the next day, however at the end of that week the docs rang and said they had taken the MMA blood in the wrong bottles or something so needed to be repeated. So had the homocysteine test 9 weeks after an injection, and MMA one week after injection. Test results along with full blood count below.

Anyone notice anything out of the ordinary? I seem to have results in the middle to lower ends of the ranges. I still feel fairly tired, but do manage to exercise, but it definitely takes it out of me.

After speaking with Dr Chandy from B12d.org (only 'Specialist' I have managed to find so far) he suggested taking up to 6000mcg sublinguals along with the injections, so I have started supplementing with 5000mcg per day plus 400mcg of methylfolate daily. I have been doing this for a week now, and some symptoms seem to have got a little worse, so I am taking this as a good sign at the moment.

I have an appointment with my doctor in a month, and I want to be prepared for what her argument might be for the homocysteine and MMA tests being normal, definitely don't want her to put the injections back to every 3 months, as it is coming up to the time of year where my increased anxiety is triggered more by flying insects (don't like things I can't control/unpredictability hence flying bugs especially moths that crash around).

any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the anxiety.

The MMA and homocysteine both seem to be roughly in range which would imply that you don't have a functional B12 deficiency, so may be something else going on.

B12 deficiency symptoms overlap with a number of other conditions - thyroid, vitD deficiency, diabetes. Have you been checked to rule these out?

notice that your creatinine level was low in January - was there any action to look into this/proposals to follow up. This is an article that discusses some possible causes of low creatinine, including dietary (or absorption problems) and loss of muscle mass. Would imagine that not having adequate protein in your system would leave you sapped for energy.
