Taking injections on the plane

Hi all tried to see if this has been asked before.

What are your experiences of taking your B12 injections on the plane? Do you need a Doctors/GP's note to say what they are for? I have a box of hydroxocobalamin with my name on it ie I have been prescribed it, so is that enough? Thanks.

I don't travel with the ones I do get prescribed as they inject them at the GPs office which they wont give me more often but I do buy more of my own to self inject. I buy mine in Spain over the counter in Pharmacy (ie no prescription) and carry them back in hand luggage via plane to the UK never had any issues or questions on them.

Do you know if you can take needles and syringes in hand luggage?  I fear that needles will be a problem?

Hi both of you

Yes, it was more the needles and syringes I was concerned about. If anyone could let me know as I will only be taking carry on baggage, thanks

I have never had any problems taking the needles and syringes. I normally keep them in their own resealable bag and take the resealable bag out of my bag and into the tray at security. Not sure if you have to do this but I always have and no one as ever questioned me on it.

Just get a letter from your gp and their stamp and details explaining what its for and you should be ok

I just flew internationally and I brought my needles, syringes, and b12 in my carry on bag with no problem.

I have flown frequently within Europe and never encountered a problem.  I have the Hydroxy. in the box with my name on it and also a few needles.  I have never been asked to open this.

I have taken my insulin pens before, you just declare them at check in and there is no problem. I always carried then in my hand luggage as well just in case my checked bag went AWOL......

Always pack mine in checked baggage and have never had a problem.

I've not had a problem with needles in a carry on bag travelling within Europe. I have pointed them out at security as being for medical purposes just in case of queries.

Thanks for all your replies, that sounds reassuring. Just carry on bag, I will mention to security when I go through.
