Is it worth taking b12 tablets when diagnosed with gastric atrophy?

If you have gastric-atrophy is worth taking sublingual b12 ?

The idea behind sublinguals is that the B12 should mostly be absorbed in membranes in the mouth so isn't being absorbed in the gut and so not dependent on the ileum.

They also tend to be really high dose so even if B12 isn't absorbed in the mouth there is a chance that enough of the dose will get through by passive absorption - 1% is absorbed outside the ileum.

So, in theory it can be effective but there are no guarantees.

Think it depends on what you want it to help with. I have a diabetic friend with ga and loads of other b12 symptoms and he has recently started using under tongue drops, they help a bit with the tiredness but not much else at the moment.
