Very simple to understand.
Watched a couple of the other vid clips - and can see if gps only get similarly trained where on one, the chap describes PA to what i assume are students and used gollum as a way to remember the name PA well !!!
Fascinating and informative
So if my IF is negative this means that I have the intrinsic factor necessary to process B12 from my diet, therefore no pernicious anaemia. Why is it then that I have been diagnosed as B12 deficient with a serum B12 of 175g/L.
The treatment is 6 loading doses every other day for 2 weeks then an injection of B12 every 2 months. I have suspected peripheral neuropathy in my feet and the right hand side of my neck. The latter stems from the right-hand lower bone of my skull to the bone at the back of my ear (painful at times) with tingling and numbness in my neck under the right jaw and a feeling of bruising in the right jaw.
Have I got pernicious anaemia and what is happening to my neck?
E.A.S I am not medically trained so the short answer is I have no idea!
However, there are a couple of points to consider. The Intrinsic Factor test is very unreliable so you could easily have a false negative. I think the test is sometimes redone before a positive result is achieved.
Have you had a test for antibodies to Gastric Parietal Cell? I was negative for IF but positive for GPC.
Also, you could also ask for an exploration of the gastro-intestinal tract to examine the state of the ileum? Mine was scarred and this confirmed the diagnosis of PA.
Also, has the bacteria H.Pylori been eliminated? And coeliac disease?
My guess is that you do have PA and will need to concentrate on your body's response to the injections. I'd keep a good journal of your symptoms and try to find a good Functional GP to assist with minerals and vitamin therapy.
Good luck.
