There does seem to be a link between methotrexate and folate

and as low folate can affect uptake and processing of B12 ...
It would also appear that methotrexate can affect the liver - not recommended if there is liver damage - especially caused by alcoholism - and as the liver is an important part of the process for storing and processing B12 I guess there is a possibility that it could lead to B12 problems through that mechanism.
