Is it true Ideally I should have an injection of Vitamin B12 everyday? Would the use of a vitb12 supplement bought from Holland and Barret be helpful?

Sorry - sounds like you are probably in a bad way but this post really doesn't give enough information to be able to help you.

When you say you think you need an injection of B12 every day I'm not clear why - some people do need that much B12 but they are very few. Or are you talking about needing loading shots? though even those are usually done every other day not every day.

I don't know what strength of supplement you have from Holland and Barrett but if you have an absorption problem then you would need to be taking at least 1mg (1000mcg/ug) per day by mouth - probably several times that - to be able to absorb enough in your gut outside the ileum.

It works for some but it doesn't work for others - and unfortunately the only way of knowing is to try.

It's highly advisable that you consult with your Dr. prior to taking vitamin B12 injections. Mega dosing of vitamins can be hazardous and is generally ill advised as far as I know. Indeed, it's been reported that some people with serious absorption issues require high and frequent doses but you can easily get your levels checked and go through those results with a qualified professional such as your Dr. Apologies if this message sounds a bit emphatic but just urging you take caution and seek the proper medical advise on your dosing regimen. Good luck!

Sorry but I really don't share harvolds faith that a GP will give you a correct answer if you ask them about B12.

There is no recommended upper daily limit in the EU for B12 as the EFSA couldn't find any evidence that there is a problem with having high levels of B12 from supplementation
