Does "Better You B12 Boost" oral spray work well?
Hi, I've haven't heard of this. Can you give a link or explain what it is and where you get it?
Hi CarlyS123 - Yes, I have used it to very good effect. Using the standard dose I find I don't get enough B12 to store any up, so I have to use it on a daily basis, but it has transformed my life! It's always good to have around if you get exposed to anything that saps your serum B12 - a couple of sprays and you feel much better again. The downside for me is that I live in Thailand at the moment and can't get it shipped over here, so I end up buying loads when I'm in the UK (or when people are visiting me from the UK) and it ends up being quite expensive.
Hi Carly. I have bought this as I was in need of a boost as it was readily available on the shelf in Holland & Barrett. I don't know how it compares to other nasal or sub-lingual sprays as this is the only one that I have tried but I was going through a bad time before my last injection and needed to try something to help me make it through. I'm not sure it relieved all the symptoms - I needed to injection to properly pull me up but it certainly took the edge off and in particular it quickly improved my mood (which my wife will certainly testify to).
Following my injection I have been finding that if I take a full dose of 4 sprays my fingers are getting tingly (which I understand can be a side effect) but a couple of sprays a day seems to be helping.
I don't know if the other absorption products are better or if they are all much of a muchness but I can certainly say that I felt some positive effects from this spray almost straight away.
B12 boost spray which goes under the tongue ( sublingual ) works well . I recommended it for someone with psoriasis who had suffered for twenty years and had been prescribed all kinds of pharma meds by her GP . Her hands were sore and bleeding and she could not use them very well . She rang to tell me that her psoriasis went completely after six days .
I recommended it to another person who could not shift the weight which she had. She lost 13 lbs in two weeks without even dieting .
I gave a shot under my friends tongue who was getting painfully thin and he said that he had no appetite what so ever and had not eaten in days . Within five minutes , he asked me if I had anything to eat . I made him a simple meal and he said that it was the first meal he had enjoyed in months . He said that he felt so much better .
I gave a shot to a young man at a demonstration about homelessness . he had alcohol problems . He said that it made him feel instantly better and that he would buy some .
I am convinced that it works . I have seen it happen lots of times .
Unfortunately it does absolutely nothing for me, however injections and infusions (of methylcobalamin) have been my life saver. I do take adenosylcobalamin orally from time to time.
We are all different I suppose as I find that I can't convert either hydroxycobalamin or cynocobalamin and other members are fine with these.
I believe it is due partly to the methylation process and is dependant on other substances SAM-e, 5-methylfolate, glutathione amongst others.
However I believe in 'suck it and see' so to speak (excuse the pun). Whatever works for you then do it!
Hi CarlyS123, I regularly use this when I begin to slow down before my next injection. It certainly seems to help me get through the last four weeks. I have tried, but failed, to get more frequent injections from my GP. I carry it with me in my handbag, especially if I am going away and likely to be more active. MariLiz
Hi CarlyS123, I too have used this product and it helps me. However, like most sufferers of the condition in the UK, I have had difficulty convincing my gps, yes I've had several since diagnosis 10yrs ago, that I need more frequent injections than 3monthly. Taking this product raises my serum b12 so any blood test convinces my gp that I don't need my injection and have been refused treatment as a result, for up to 9mths sometimes. I am very unwell with many neurological symptoms but they dont listen. I found the product expensive as l'm too ill to work and having difficulty claiming benefits.
Hi Bluepetals2,
I wrote the piece a year ago however I know the avenue I was taking at the time was the correct one for me but basically we are all different and that is why everyone needs an individual approach.
The tiredness could be due to a chronic fatigue problem (it was with me) and that requires some additional attention.
However, as I said at the time it is mainly a 'suck it and see' approach with the type of b12.
The reason I knew I was on the right track at the time was due to the fact that I had my genome mapped and the methylation pathway extracted from that to assist me with the polymorphisms that were 'blocking' the pathway and not allowing me to convert hydroxo to methyl etc.
Now I wouldn't expect anyone else to go to the extremes I went to, however if you could get in touch with a good doctor (who can possibly do infusions if required) then you will be on the correct pathway to become well.
If hydroxo suits you, you will feel better. If it doesn't then it is worth trying methyl (possible with the help of a professional) and see how you do with that.
Sorry to be so vague, however it can be very complicated and it took me many years to get to where I am now. It is impossible to go through everything in these short answers.
Good luck and my very best wishes.
P.S. I also take the b12minus from seeking health and find it useful.

Hi bluepettals2,
No I am in the UK.
As I said I did a massive amount of research (16 years) and have a pretty good understanding of methylation and the accompanying single nucleotide polymorphisms. However it didn't start there, that was just were I ended up.
Amy Yasko and Ben Lynch were a great source of information of course but once you have your pathway mapped it is quite easy to manoeuvre and there is so much information out there. I can't reiterate enough though how much research you have to do first that is why I recommended a doctor as I possibly get a bit too involved (obsessed) and it can end up taking over your life to some degree.
It did take a long time to understand however was well worth the slog in the end.
Good luck again and best wishes with your health.
