Wondering if anyone can help? I was diagnosed with PA in Dec. Had to have 6 injections of B12 over a 2 week period.

Now have B12 injections once every 12 weeks. When I have the B12 injections give it three weeks and I come out in spots all over my face, in my head and at the top of my chest. I feel like a teenager again. Also my monthly periods have become irregular and I have been bleeding most of the month. My GP thinks this is start of the menopause but I am only 41 and feel I have only been like this since I have had my B12 injections. Does anybody else have these problems or can someone give me advice?

Hi

I have been having shots for 2 months and also have the return of teenage spots and for me normal periods. But I have also had no pmt my skin is less dry and my skin is healing quickly again, so I have embraced the spots as the good side effects out weigh the bad. I hope this helps, others on the site maybe able to give you ideas on how to deal with these side effects, good luck!

Hi Anttan,,

As you probably know B12 is very good at removing toxins from the body so these teenage spots occurring is just b12 doing a clean up, I had this same problem , I self inject once a week and I know which brand doesn't give spots and that is a lower dose of 1000m ,1500m tends to break me out . but it's worth it to be able to function normally.

Maybe give it more time , and see if it lessens.

All the best

Regards

In the meantime, if the spots are particularly troublesome - benzoyl peroxide is a very effective treatment for acne. My son uses this at night, then moisturises in the morning (it dries out the skin). It comes in a variety of strengths and is available on Amazon. But if you do choose to try it, beware - it bleaches fabrics! So best to switch to white towels and pillowslips.

Hello there

As with other respondents here, I too have had some issues with spots on my skull, face and chest region whilst following a high frequency regime of B12 injections (currently one every other day). From what I had read, this is one of the side effects and I have to say that the benefits far outweigh any negatives for me! Good luck with it.

If you always come out in spots after your quarterly injection, chances are that spots are the result of the injection and I was told by Dr Chandy that it is common for people to comeout in spots due to stored toxins been eliminated. It's a sign that B12 is doing what it should do. I'm not a spotty person but I also had spots.

Thanks for replying. I am glad this is a normal thing to happen after having B12 injections. My GP has not explained much to me so finding this site has really helped me. Thanks x

I've been getting B12 3 monthly injections for about 1 year now and I've also noticed quite prominent spots on the back of my skull and face area although they tend to be worse just after the injections, however, like previous posts, the benefits very much outweigh the negatives....
