I have found one water in our supermarket that has 74mg per litre which is very high so we’ll add a couple of glasses a day of that to the regime. You need to make sure it is specified on the label as ones that don’t mention silica probably have no more than tap water.

The horsetail plant is abundant in silica and is available cheaply as a supplement. It is one of the cofactors needed for getting calcium into the bones along with vitamins D and K, and boron. Beer also contains silica from hops
I was told that this guy has done trials on various ways of getting Silica in a form that can be assimilated and the way it is in water is best way of it removing aluminium. Other forms aren’t as effective apparently. I will try and find his research that says this. I was just told it by the guy who sells me the Hardy’s products and he does a lot of research into various health claims. He has nothing to gain as the water just comes from the supermarket. Yes you are correct that (acid) weathering of silica rocks/minerals can produce dissolved silica. There are data on mineral solubility in PHREEQC model databases and you can assess solubility by looking at Si mineral saturation indices from model outputs after entering your water chemistry, here are some of Si minerals in PHREEQC:

Horsetail extract isn’t quite as safe to use as other herbal extracts and botanicals.
The plant is labeled as “possibly unsafe” when taken by mouth long-term because it contains a chemical called thiaminase. That chemical breaks down the vitamin thiamin in your body.
Interesting. I searched and was unable to find the amount of thiaminase in horsetail. However, the references to thiamine deficiency as result of consuming horsetail involved it being a major part of animal feed - at least 20% of feed over several weeks. A lot of horsetail inactivating a little bit of naturally occurring thiamine. In my case I am consuming a little bit of horsetail and a massive amount of thiamine, so this is not applicable. As you said, they are trying to sell a competing product
Pure nz I got from new world in Christchurch. It was the only one I could find as most of the others seemed to be north island only. There were a few others from up north but all the ones bottled by coke didn’t seem to have an analysis so I guess they probably don’t have much.
Any controls to the study, anybody taking the right water but not aware that they are, and any objective measurements? Anybody taking a placebo and not aware that they are, with objective measurements? When the person making the treatment selections does not know who gets the real thing and who does not? That would go a long way to proving your point, and of course if you really want the point to be proven true, and you believe it will, then you wouldn't object to such things...in fact, you'd insist upon them, knowing that since they'd be right, there's no need to fear tests of proof, while there'd be much to be gained thereby.
There was a control group, they measured the aluminium in the urine. Do you need a placebo trial when you have chemical analysis ? Maybe for the cognitive effects I suppose. It says it’s a preliminary study. I guess it’s hard to find funding for a trial for water. Anyway it seems a pretty cheap and easy thing to try for 12 weeks. If it makes you feel better, great. If not don’t take it.
Do the math from this tiny study. Not suggesting Al isn't neurotoxic (we have known about it for decades), but this study is too minimal to draw a definitive conclusion that drinking spring water with silica will somehow prevent PwP from lewy body PD dementia. It surely can't hurt, but how much it will help needs much more research. This study with ALZ patients doesn't provide the answer.

What commercial sources of water do anyone know of in other regions beyond NZ? (It's a lovely place, but I'm not just yet ready to move there, maybe in a couple years...North America is really getting rather psychotic)
I’m not sure when we will be letting anyone who isn’t a citizen in. There are 1million kiwis living abroad and only 5 milllion here! Not sure what they would do with every one if they all wanted to come home. They won’t even let people with work visas who live here back home at the moment.
