I don’t want to get into a religious debate but as a Catholic with 7 kids, this to me is good news. Please don’t hate me or send hateful messages. I understand where your coming from but I feel a cure will never come from abortion. I have been under a lot of stress lately but the last time this topic came up I was upset for not standing up for what I believe in. I’m not on this site trying to push my views on anyone just looking for advice on Parkinson’s and many of you have been like friends to me. My first baby was stillborn, I know that pain. I’ve seen 8 tiny heartbeats at only weeks old beating inside me and would give up my life for any of them. Please don’t hate me. I love you all.

I respect your point of view

Thank you, I know it’s not a popular one but I hope people on here will just respect it as I respect theirs. I would never try to force my views on anyone. This is the one topic in Parkinson’s research that I feel strongly about.

Bless you, for standing up for what you believe in! The miracle of life, is for God's Providence, not man's, to mess with, in my humble opinion. There are many wonderful people on this forum, who are helpful, concerning living with PD, so, of course, like you, I wouldn't want to offend anybody, and each person is entitled to their opinion.

I am not religious but I am glad Trump's administration made this decision. As much as I want to get cured, the use of new human fetal tissue is a moral boundary I don't want to cross.

Hi Connie, we may not all agree on this topic, and that is ok. No one will ever agree and I do not feel there is a right or wrong answer. It’s very subjective. I applaud the bravery you have to speak your mind and the devotion you have to your faith and family which I am certain helps you to remain strong. Let’s face it, isn’t this true for most? Our Beliefs and faith and family/ friends are what keep us all strong; giving us each purpose, passion, fight. Without belief, I feel many would just give up. I for one am not ready for that. I am keeping the faith, fight, and passion. The fat lady has not yet sung. Stay strong Connie and keep using that voice!

Thank you LMl!! I must admit I’m not one to typically share my point of view on a matter that is so controversial. However I’ve yet seen that point of view expressed on this and felt I had an opinion that possibly a few shared. Thank you for the kind words, my faith and family are my rock. I’d be lost without them. I’m glad I had a voice yesterday but find sadly being brave requires nerves of steel which I never had and with Pd I have even less of now. Peace it what I long for most now and the fight in me that’s left seems can mostly be focused on my health..which I wish wasn’t the case. This forum has also been a lifeline for me too and I’d hate to lose it over offending anyone or worry someone may no longer answer a question of mine. I guess I could reappear online with a new name on HU!! Lol I do want to say thank you to you and those that supported me yesterday with a comment or a like not because you agreed or disagreed with me but you supported me anyway! I also recognize I may have misinterpreted PDConscience’s comments and for that I am sorry. He’s a valued member of this forum. His intelligence is above my pay grade and I willingly admit I have to read his comments twice and still ask myself “is he saying what I think he’s saying.?” PD and researching it can be time consuming, I need to focus my energy on Christmas now or 7 kids will be quite unhappy come Christmas Day!

Peace and Love,

Connie

So you objected to the rudeness of PDConscience when you thought it was directed at you but you now applaud it when it is directed at others?

ConnieD profile image
ConnieD in reply to danfitz

Who else was it directed to? I feel I stood up for anyone who is prolife! I did my best to stand up but he says I misconstrued what he said. Who am I to judge him? I only said I apologize IF I misunderstood something, i only took his comments as directed at me, if I misconstrued that I apologize to everyone. Quite honestly I have trouble understanding him at times. I don’t encourage rudeness toward anyone I apologize if I offended you, I try to be a forgiving person maybe I should have said more. At the time my husband was angry dinner wasn’t ready and I had a family to feed. I hope that’s good enough I found yesterday upsetting and I’d really like us all to let it go. If he offended others and I didn’t do enough I apologize. Anyone that knows me in person or long enough on here I think and hope realizes I don’t believe rudeness towards anyone should exist on this forum or anywhere else. I appreciate you coming to my defense and apologize if I should have come to others.

ConnieD profile image
ConnieD in reply to ConnieD

Just to add I’m probably a sensitive person but feel a bit beaten down on here which has me in tears. Christmas can be a stressful time for all and we all have our problems but my 87 year old mother hasn’t been feeling well either. I know many have it worse than me but I may need to take a break from HU. I’m far from perfect but consider this my support group and I may not always say the right thing but don’t need any added stress right now. Sorry to all I’ve offended. Forgive me.

You have not done anything that needs forgiveness. It was the rudeness of PDConscience that caused this drama.

ConnieD in reply to danfitz

Thanks I tell my kids to try being kind to the bully at school he might have problems and need a kind word or gesture. I felt that way last night and didn’t want him to feel alienated as if everyone was only supporting me. Maybe he’s going through something. I thought he was trying in his way to offer the community in a sense an olive branch but by trying to make him feel better I was in no way attempting to make it seem like it’s ok to offend others. Perhaps I should have read his comments more thoroughly but if you’ve ever lived with a hungry Italian man I didn’t reflect very long. No offense Gio my friend I’m sure you’re polite when you are hungry!😊

You really are quite delusional. You are perceived by numerous people here as rude. The best that can be said about you is one very nice woman here pleads that we should be nice to the bully because you may be having a bad day or a bad life.

Since you routinely bully other members of the community here I am not going to cut you that slack. You are nothing more than a mean spirited, delusional bully.

The current political divide stateside has spawned an extremely vindictive - yet creative - segment of the national media. Their 'tool' of choice is that certain contingent of malleable, emotionally fragile minds who, upon reading a few carefully contrived statements, are predisposed to fits of hysteria over each and every governmental policy-review taking place under the administration of their current arch nemesis, DJT.

Taking note of the still valid statement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) saying that it "has made no decisions regarding federal funding for human fetal tissue research pending the outcome of the ongoing review of all such work", I would strongly urge any members of the above contingent to aspire beyond tool status and hopefully refrain from wetting oneself (at least until said review is completed).

Update, 9 December, 9:30 a.m.: The story is updated with an additional statement that NIH provided after the story was published.

After this story was published, NIH emailed an additional statement. It said that the agency in September "put a pause in place" for staff scientists procuring new human fetal tissue, "an action NIH thought was prudent given the examination of these procurements. Research with tissue already on hand could proceed, and NIH leaders asked to be notified by intramural investigators if new procurement would be necessary. NIH leadership was not informed that new procurement was necessary for the study you reference in your story. We are looking into why this did not occur."

ConnieD profile image
ConnieD in reply to PDConscience

Wetting oneself, emotionally fragile, malleable???? This is the true divide in our country if you lean left say whatever you want, if you lean right you have no voice and are insulted or worse if you do. I’ve been on this forum for a great deal of time and you could easily have just said I disagree and here’s why. I would respect that. This topic has come up many times and this is the first time I said I don’t agree with it. As someone once said on HU we should all act like colleagues and respect our differing opinions. Why can’t I have an opinion? I tried to say it in a way that no one should be offended. Why should I even worry about offending anyone when we are suppose to have free speech in this country. Clearly you are not afraid or concerned of offending me. In case you’ve forgotten a conscience is defined as “an inner voice used to guide the rightness or wrongness of one’s behavior.” You may be a wordsmith and may like to think I’m ignorant, I’m not. I’ve tried to always treat others on this site as I do in life with kindness and respect. I have several friends who do not share my views, we respect our differences and often find common ground in other areas. Basically we enjoy each other despite our differences, sadly that seems to be changing in this world and possibly this site.

ConnieD in reply to keepsie

Thank you keepsie, it’s sad to think we are living in a world where we have lost civility and what I consider just proper manners. I’ve always appreciated the advice of others on this site but if people start being attacked for a differing view it’s not for me. In all honesty I think that’s why Silvestrov left, he was in my opinion attacked verbally for not being as educated as some and still giving advice. He had great advice too, I know it helped me..it’s a shame.😞

ConnieD, It seems you've mistaken the target of my ire (fyi: I tend toward the same side of the issue as you). The point of my message was to discourage those susceptible to the 'journalistic' stunts of the 'resistance' press (*see: 'iqbaliqbal', 'danfitz') from propagating such contrived anti-DJT drivel within the hallowed cyber-halls of our esteemed HU PD forum. The perpetual worst-case-scenario speculation that takes place over the motivations behind yet another PENDING policy review is tedious and helps nobody. The intent was to encourage such members to be a bit more circumspect before advertising their political vulnerabilities here.
