You want to stay with the CBC oils, they have low THC if any. It’s the THC that makes you high. Find a good dispensary to find high quality oils. Good luck

So what % of each would i get? And is Indica better then other marijuana?

In general indica is preferred for pain and relaxation. Sativa in general is more energizing and cerebral.

My advice is don’t overthink this. There are many strains of marijuana. You might also ask at the dispensary for their recommendation.

Don't know where, you live but in certain states in the US where it is legal, you must have a "script" by a certified physician and buy it from a licensed dispensary. There are over 4000 components in cannabis and there are different varieties with different active ingredients, so you must get the right mix for PD.

If you don’t want to smoke or vape get a tincture that is THC dominate and try that. Start with one or two drops or sprays and titrate from there. It is the THC that’s effective for PD symptoms.

You probably just did not use the right one. You need to get advise on the many different oils available. That knowledgeable person is difficult to find. Try the friendly Pharmacist at your local drug store or the old guys at the pool hall. I found it is effective on pain.

I know that the online hemp oil is of no use it doesnt work you need a MM card to get the medical type

I just started a 1:1 ratio tincture of cbd/thc oil 3x a day . I went to a nurse practitioner who sees patients only for the purpose of evaluating them and determining what dose is best and what product. She said to start at .5 and I could up my dose every 3 days and by the time I see her again in 6 wks if I wanted I could be up to 2 full droppers. I was hoping for help in rigidity and anxiety. She came highly recommended even the special pharmacy I went to said she’s the best and they use the highest grade products. I give all this info because after taking it for 2 weeks and reaching 1 full dropper 3x a day I felt more rigidity and haven’t taken it in 2 days. Is it me? Ugh, my sister who is a nurse says you have to give anything new at least a month. I dont know what to do, so confused..any thoughts ?? I never tried regular marijuana so they said it could initially have a stronger effect.

PS I’ve private messaged a couple people on HU who take it for advice with no response. It saddens me when people don’t respond at all, aren’t we trying to help each other?😞

Try one if you can with high CBD but a little THC. I tried only CBD oil (good quality legal script from a licensed clinic) but pure CBD oil gave me a headache and adding a little THC helped. It did not make me high. I took it in oil form.

Are you still finding it helpful?

Yes I too have heard that the CBD oil needs to have a little bit of THC in it to work for people with PD thank you all for the great advice I am going to try this and then I will let everyone know my results after I have tried for several weeks

Most dispensaries offer MM ointments which are fairly effective for pain. I have tried a few and would say that the best ones are comparable to the topical ibuprofen that I make for the same purpose, but the ibuprofen topical is much less expensive and pretty much legal everywhere. The weaker ointments I would say are similar to mag oil in terms of pain relief. I mostly use indica or hybrid and once in awhile sativa, but not for sleep. Here in the states, if you travel much, the legal issue can be a big problem because it means you will not be able to take your MM with you while traveling. Oddly, while the topical ointments work for pain for me, smoking it makes me acutely aware of every little pain I might have at the time while offering no pain relief at all! Generally I prefer a high THC content so I use less product to get the desired effect.

I also smoke it for sleep and it works quite well for that. I use a fairly high THC very low CBD for this purpose at roughly 30% THC and less than 1% CBD. The advantage of this higher THC form is that I only need to smoke a little to get the desired effect and I feel it kicking in within 5 minutes! I have tried several tinctures, but they don't work for me for the purpose of sleep, because the delay from the time you put the drops under your tongue is too long before it kicks in and the delay can vary significantly each time I use it. All of the oral products I have tried have too long of a delay to make them practical for sleep usage. I once took a full dropper of high THC tincture and it kicked in 4 to 5 hours later! I didn't like that at all. It took so long that I had forgotten that I took and was walking around high for quite awhile till it finally wore off!

I liked vaping it for the convenience and smoothness, but I don't do that anymore because of the additives that they use in the vape cartridges.

I like some of the edibles, but again, the variation in delay time is a pain in the butt and the gummy candy edibles are addictive to me, because they taste so good even though they have a slight MM flavor to them also! I don't know how they put the MM in the gummies, but the dose seems to vary for each individual candy making it hard to dose and easy to take more than you meant to or too little to have the desired effect and again with the delay from the time you take it until it kicks in, it can be a pain if you take too little and have to add more because the second dose will be delayed also.

Lastly, but importantly, ask at the dispensary that you go to if the product they are recommending is regularly stocked. It is a real downer to find the variety or type that works for your purpose only to find out that they don't have it when you go back to get more! This has happened to me multiple times!

Art do you think for PD a higher concentration of cbd and lower thc would be better? Thanks!

Connie

in reply toConnieD

Connie,

Yes, definitely!

Like many things that people take for PD, there is tremendous variation from person to person and with MM, I would say that this effect is somewhat amplified, especially when first starting on it. I go for the higher THC content so I can smoke less or take less product to get the desired effect. I don't particularly like smoking it, but that pathway is quite fast and effective for me for sleep when needed. For me, CBD is of little apparent effect , but others swear by it, so again significant individual variation with CBD and THC.

For someone who is just trying it out for the first time, I would start with a relatively weak strain or higher CBD content because one negative effect that some people experience with MM is paranoia and a weaker strain will lessen the chance of that happening. Once you have used the weaker strain for awhile, you will have a better idea of how well you tolerate it. Once that is established you can experiment with stronger strains in order to use less product.

i met a vet who had pain from leg amputated. in nyc we are having trouble getting opoids for pain even if we were never an addict. he was given marijuana and now uses harlequin daytime and bubba kush nightimes. he said these work better than opoids. these strains are only available in all marijuana legal states not in only medical marijuana legal states. i have never tried them. you can't buy these strains in colorado and fly back over non legal marijuana states to new york without possibly getting in trouble.
