Just found this article on page 40 of 10/2/2017 National Enquirer. The drug, nortriptyline, which has been used to treat depression and nerve pain, stopped the growth of abnormal proteins that can build up in the brain and lead to the development of the disease [Parkinson's]. Their 1st trial was with rats; the next will be with humans but: it is already approved as an anti-depressant so hopefully you could get an Rx for the drug with an eye toward attacking Parkinson's disease. My Mom didn't have Parkinson's but she did have some dementia, and when she went on Nortriptyline for another problem she really went down hill. She had hallucinations and was running up and down stairs (she had a bad ankle and hip and could otherwise hardly walk) ,and we found her grinding up her medications in a bowl to feed to her dog. It needs to be monitored carefully
I have been taking Nortriptyline for about a year. It was prescribed for my IBS and definitely helps. I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's for about 5 years. My Parkinson's hasn't changed either for good or bad since taking Nortriptyline.
