That is me, left foot ankle and hand. According to the neurologist it's part of Parkinson's.

I am on enalapril with a diuretic. I have cut the pill into quarters and I'm taking that otherwise it's way too much. Enalapril is for high blood pressure it has helped my swollen foot and hand. You could see what the doctor says.

My husband has edema in one leg. The leg from the knee down is twice the size of his other leg. It seems to be poor circulation and Parkinson's.

CJ, I don't get the swelling, but I do get the stiff foot and ankle. The doctor told me it is a side effect of sinemet.

Hi beckey ,I also developed regular pain and stiffness in left ankle

shortly after starting Sinemet tablets, it's still there.

REQUIP did that to me! 11 years and 5 brain surgeries (DBS)

You learn to balance the results from the medication and what else they screw up getting there

If it’s one leg only might be a vein issue.

I have been on Sinemet for 6 years , but this past year has brought more challenges, including swelling ankles, numb toes and feet pain. Medical tests were done for blood circulation, nerves neuropathy, muscles etc.. all came back normal , so I am told it is Parkinson progressing ..... never was mentioned too much Sinemet , actually last week Sinemet CR was added ....am interested to know what your experience is and results you have found helpfull.

Good luck

I have had a slightly swollen left ankle for around 30yrs resulting from a fall.. Sometimes we have a tendency to think PD before considering other possible causes. Re meds: I have taken Requip (ropinirole) for 13 yrs since dx. I have suffered all the above symptoms including dry skin, scurf, swelling, joint heat & pain etc & they have been controlled by changing either the timing or the amount of Requip as well as local treatments (creams, lotions, diuretics). I have added Sinemet for the past 7 yrs with no discernible side effects in this area. My earliest symptoms of PD involved the left side of my body curling inwards with left hand & foot forming hooks, cramping & going into spasm. If you have seen someone with severe Cerebral Palsy, limbs twisted inwards across the body this seems to be what is happening. As my balance was affected by a bunion on my left foot I had simple surgery to correct it. This went radically wrong so my toe is now pinned at a bizarre angle & the toe next to it cut shorter. This has caused my foot to deform making the whole left side of my body out of line causing pain, discomfort, lack of sleep & mobility issues. Perhaps not everything can be put down to PD or side-effects the treatments.
