I was wondering how long people have had parkinson's and how long they were able to still walk. Thank you

11 years post diagnosis, I often walk 10 miles, BUT limiting factors:

1. stoop causes backache, which sometimes hits in after only 5 miles.

2. climbing over stiles is often difficult.

3. putting on a coat sometimes takes so long that a rain shower leaves me wet.

I was diagnosed January of 2003 and have a little problem walking long distances. Play golf 6 days a week which I enjoy and keeps the PD from taking over or just lucky.

Hi dmariel. I sound like a pain in the ass to many people. Two years after being diagnosed with Pd in 1992, I started doing a fast walking program, even though I was shuffling at the time. Four months later my symptoms started getting better and 4 years later, only a neurologist would have known that I still have Pd. In 2002 I stopped taking any Pd medication and have lived medication-free since then.

I wrote a book about my experience in 2003 and it has sold over 4000 copies so far. I did not write the book to make money, but to be able to tell everybody what I did and how I have managed to overcome many other problems. The last time I looked, I am definitely not superman and I still bleed when injured etc.

There must be lots of Pd patients out there who can do what I have done, it just requires a bit of commitment and a change in attitude.

Hi John, I'm very interested in reading about your pd experience. What is the name of your book and where can I buy a copy?

Thanks Dollywoo. There are two options available to you. You can purchase it on my website - reverseparkinsons.net - and the price includes delivery to anywhere in the world, or you can get it on Amazon. It is titled, "Reverse Parkinson's Disease".

my problem originated in my right leg then my writing started to deteriorate. my leg felt like a dead weight then I was able to touch my nose with my knee and it's not the dead weight it was but I don't have the sensitivity I used to have, I feel the problem is fine motor ...can't twiril my spoon, writing has consistently deteriorated (only consistent thing) . can say I've recovered my leg, except for sideway motion, same for arm. do you recognize this as your experience?
