I get really bad cramps in the arch of my left foot but it only happens when I'm relaxing. I can see the problem you are having is a catch 22, you want to walk to feel better but you can't walk because your foot hurts. I think the only solution is to talk it out with your doctor and figure out how to stop the foot cramps and then let the rest of us know so we can too. I was having worse cramps when I was taking a statin so I dropped the statin. I've heard cramps can be a potassium problem or a dehydration problem. I take a prescribed potassium supplement and I'm drinking water constantly during the day. Let us know how it goes. I still get cramps but not often.

Lots of magnesium really helps comma some forms are better than other ones try different formulations.

I do not know what you are capable of doing but I walk backwards and that releases the muscles.

I have the dystonia in my right toes and Botox injections were suggested to me. My toe pain has gone away though. Another PD mystery. I expect it will come back around sooner or later.

I had/have the same problem. My toes would begin to curl and my foot cramp up after about a 1/4 mile of walking. If I paused, they'd relax and I could continue. This would repeat about every 1/10 to 1/4 mile. Like Hal-9000 said, walking backwards worked for me too.

I just started sinemet a couple of months ago and to my surprise the dystonia has abated. I can tell that my toes/foot wants to cramp up, but they don't actually do it. If I skip a dose or don't plan ahead, the dystonia returns.

If you can, rolling a tennis ball back and forth under your foot about 20 times at a go helps to stretch/exercise the foot without provoking the cramps which come if you try to point/stretch the toe

Since I posted and seeing John Peppers reply, I should have made it clear that you put your weight on to the foot with the ball . I use one of those knobbly plastic balls used in the drying cycle of the washing machine)

Hi Leelee. Have you tried straightening your toes out and putting your weight onto that foot with the toes straight? I get that when I am driving and also when standing in line. It is ver uncomfortable and painful.

One of the best things that we can do to prevent dystonia is to passively stretch the muscles that are going into spasms. I find that stretching my calf muscles with door or wall stretching helps. Make sure that your heels are flat to the floor and toes are pointed straight ahead. Also I frequently take my hand and pull my toes up toward my kneecap and hold for 5 to 10 seconds. The longer the muscles the less likely they are to cramp.

Hi 123leelee I have Dystonia in my right toes and my left toes and ankle. I find heat helps puy your feet in hot water or a hot water bottle. I bought myself some pedicure booties whitch you plug in and they heat up there great.I had a bad do with my feet yesterday went to AE my twos curled over it started at 9.30 and went on till11.30. Then they gave me Diazepam that worked. Hope the heat helps if you want to try it, i will give the walking backwards a go, i will try any thing. Also rubbing the muscle at the back of your leg just rub it upwards. Sorry i will be quiet now.
