I try all meds my Doctor RX for me and suffer through the changes the side effects and some times the side effects go away some times they happen less often some times they get worse. Meds have worked great for a while and then stopped. Some i could not tell one way or the other.

I took Azilect for 9 years along with Requip fo 8 years. The last year or so i have had bad nights. Starting at about 5 pm i would start to feel like i was useless ,get depressed,cry, get angry, mope around till bed time and try to sleep and would be up most of the night. if anything stressful happen i would freeze up and mentally shut down.

I recently wrote a post about trying Rytary again. To do this i decided to quit all other meds and take it alone. At that time i was taking carbidopa levodopa, azilect and Requip.

To my surprise all the night time problems went away. I handle stress as good as i ever did and I am like i was 10 years ago. I have helped my old boss with some problems dealt with several things that a 2 months ago would have shut me down completely. I even sleep better and day time sleepiness is almost completely gone.

So far the rytary is working great but it worked great for several months the last time. Hope it last longer this time.

So never assume that your depression is PD it could be your meds or caused by meds combos.

BTW i did this with the consent of and help of my Doctor. He is open minded and i think he will be pleased with the results when i see him on the 12th of this month.

BAILEY TEXAS it's me again, klmdoc. What happened the first time you tried Rytary and why did you give it up? (Azilect put me in the hospital btw). Really looking forward to hearing this story. Thanks!!!

The first time it worked great for about 3 months. Then i started to crash at the 3rd hour of my 4 hour cycle. I would feel a cold sweat coming up back and then my hands would quit working. I would slump in my chair and freeze up. This would last for a hour or so. Then i woke one night unable to speak and rambling on with unintelligible words. Off to the ER thought i had a stroke. $5000.00 and 12 hours later sent me home. They had no clue what had happened felt fine when i left and has not happened again. I went back to C/L.
