Pd drug used in Japan.

I don't know the name of the drug but I used my internet skills and found the following Japanese herb that was found to treat gastroparesis:

I cannot answer your question because I would need to see the PD trial to see what drug was used. So I did a search and found this:

I don't believe that's it. There was nothing mentioned in the study about gastroparesis or digestive issues. It was a trial to see if it was an alternative or an agonist to cdld. We don't know if I was on actual Meds or placebo. At the time he mentioned caffeine and did I drink coffee. I have never drank coffee or even caffeinated tea or soda. Maybe since it's now in use the digestive help has been found to be a plus. Thanks judy

My pleasure. The study said 300 mg per day and that costs about 40 $ a month with a prescription. I guess it is time to see your doctor.

I think I found it. It's a2a adenosine blocker? So is that inosine? It's on the pd.org web in June 2013 which is about the right timeframe I did the trial. It's considered an agonist for dopamine. What do you think? Thanks Judy.

As for inosine it is a supplement used by athletes who what want lean body weight, muscle growth and endurance.

PEAK ATP also is an athletic supplement and it too raises uric acid levels. Here is a weightlifting study with PEAK ATP:

I experimented with PEAK ATP and it gave me energy - too much energy, and think it may have therapeutic value in PD only at low doses.

Inosine was tested (funded by the MJF Foundation grant) and it was found to slow the rate of PD progression. Officially it passed the 'nonfutility' qualification. Most recent MJF/inosine info:

Inosine raises the uric acid levels in the body and it is a powerful antioxidant. At Harvard, in a study of men, men in the highest quartile (highest uric acid concentration) had a 55% reduced risk of PD. And in PD patients those people who have the highest uric acid levels have a mild case of PD. Men with the lowest levels of uric acid levels had severe PD. The UA/PD relationship has been more closely to affect men than women.

Dr. Marc Weisskopf, of Harvard, studied the UA/PD relationship. I know this because I used to be a weightlifter (as a young man) and have studied weightlifting supplements extensively. The Harvard link:

I missed the 'I don't think that is it' (regarding Nizatidine) from the above post....a bit too busy recently - family turmoil and such, and am not sure about the use of inosine for gastroparesis. But if you responded positively to caffeine, inosine may help gastroparesis too. Both caffeine and uric acid, the by product of inosine, are categorized as purines and I found an article called:

That's it thank you. Sounds like hope for gastroparesis. I sure hope so. Beyond that it is definitely hope for pd patients that suffer all kinds of gi tract problems. I'll post you if and when I give it a try. I want to see the gi dr first to make sure my gut is healing. I have always been very caffeine sensitive like everything else I've put in my gut lol. Ok they just called me from the neurologist office to get me started on kyowa trial that's been approved. Adenosine. That's it. I see them on the 22 after I see the gi. Thanks rich. I hope I tolerate it well it's a once daily dose be well. Judy

PS. In retrospect, if money were not an issue in choosing a herbal/drug therapy for gastroparesis it would be rikkunshi-to rather than nizatidine and here is why (rikkunshi-to is twice the price).
