Ultrasound surgery where a portion of your brain is irreversibly damaged.

OR

Stem cell therapy using ones own cells. Where dopamine is created and no permanent damage to the brain. I think I will wait for stem cell therapy.

April 29, 2016 - Summit for Stem Cell has received a $250,000 grant from the National Stem Cell Foundation (NSCF) to support the development of a patient-specific stem cell therapy for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The Summit research project is directed by Dr. Andrés Bratt-Leal in the lab of Dr. Jeanne Loring at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, CA.

The aim of of the research is to use a patient’s own skin cells to create normal dopamine-producing neurons that can be returned to the patient without rejection. Dopamine, a chemical that sends messages to areas of the brain that control movement and coordination, is decreased in Parkinson’s when dopamine-producing neurons malfunction or die. This patient-specific therapy has the potential to halt or reverse the damage of Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders, including ALS.

Hopefully, it's closer to reality.  They're starting a dopamine stem cell clinical trial at the University of Pittsburgh now.  Let's all send up a collective prayer for a safe and speedy result and approval.

Univ of Va, replies to my enquiry

Hello,

We are not performing clinical trials for Parkinsons tremors using Focused Ultrasound at this time. To my knowledge, there is no one performing them in the United States currently. It is not FDA approved.

Thanks,

Amy

Subject: [fusbrain] ultrasound for my Parkinson's

Is it now FDA approved? Are PwP, people in USA receiving treatment? What has been their results?

Where do I turn to to find such treatment? West coast, preferred as I live in New Mexico,USA.

This is fantastic news, RoyProp!  I am wondering if it is permanent relief for Parkinsons?

in reply to SuperMNew

Stem cells - "It will give you great hope about your future."

Ultrasound - To my understanding, limited to stopping tremors. Permanent damage to the core of your brain.

It's like ablation to your heart. It's only a tiny morsel inside your brain. Google Kimberly Spletter. I was so close...
