My neuro wants me to start a small dose of zoloft to go with my sinemet. Any experiences out there

you can share with me. I am open to positive experiences along with the negative. Thanks.

My husband took Sinemet four times a day, 50 mg of Zolft at night and 10 mg of selegiline. The zoloft definitely was helpful in treating his depression.

Thank you. I've never taken an antidepressant and hope to do it with a good attitude.

with PD the neurology of the brain is under seige. Also with age the production one's own neuro-chemicals (serotonin, dopamine) tends to decline. Hope it turns out well with you.

My husband takes Zoloft at night with yogurt or other food. Exercise and get sunshine everyday too. Zoloft definitely worked for him.

try the nutritional SamE as a first defense against depression. 400 mgm in the a.m. It is very effective and no side effects AND it works right away. you can eventually take it whenever you need it and it works great. Also helps support ligament pain and kidneys. Also like taking Low dose naltrexone it is an endorphin enhancer and helps with PD as well.

be sure to tell your doctors (primary care and neurologists) when you take alternative medications. There are contraindications between St. John's Wort and other PD and neuro. meds.

Sure do-but to be honest, I have gotten more help from natural professionals and docs than from neurologists over the past 17 years with this P.D. diagnosis.

I'm glad you get help, whatever the sources. I don't want to dismiss natural meds, but here in the Northeast of the USA we have a push on to prevent drug interactions with alternative meds. Most people don't know about St. John's Wort and other alt/meds can have untoward side effects when combined with prescribed meds.

I take 6 Sinemet a day. I use to take 1 25 mg Xanax a day but my PCP thought I had been taking it for too many years. Then he switched me to 1 5mg of Ativan per day and I had severe panic/anxiety attacks. So he the added 1 25 mg of Zoloft per day and had to increase it to 1 50 mg Zoloft daily. I take the Ativan and the Zoloft at the same time around 10:00 a.m. I haven't had any negative issues except I had a few headaches at first. I also drink several beers every evening - no problems there either. Best of luck.

I have been on and off of Zoloft since 1997. Taking 200mg per day. Since my 2001 dx of PD I have not stopped taking it. I have no side effects from it and have no complaints. Good Luck in your search!

I have been taking 150 mg of Zoloft in the a.m. for ten years for pain and depression related to polymyalgia

rheumatica (PMR). It helped me very much, and I have continued to take it along with the Sinemet for the

past year with no ill effects. Hope it works for you.

My husband is on zoloft along wtih a second anti-depressant and the zoloft is vital, I see a huge and fairly rapid change when he runs out. He is on Stelevo for the PD along with the anti-depressants, and other meds for other things.
