how does anyone know if they have mal absorption? How is that checked? I can’t gain weight

Hi Kirkski 👋 Doctors usually diagnose malabosbtion/EPI using a fecal elastase test. Elastase is an enzyme made by the pancreas that helps break down essential nutrients like fats, proteins, and carbohydrates after you eat. If little or no elastase is found in the stool, it might mean the enzyme is not working properly. EPI is typically the condition in CP patients that cause malabsorption.
