Lordosis: Does anyonesuffer from this condition... - Pain Concern
Lordosis
I have spondylolisthesis which can cause lordosis. I get mechanical back pain from it, but not all the time. It is likely caused by my hypermobility. I also have psoriatic arthritis. My rheumatologist hasn't done anything about the spondylolisthesis and I don't qualify for any drugs that would treat the psoriatic arthritis as apparently I don't have enough joints involved.
I only twigged that I had lordosis when my son took a photo of me from the side and my stomach was sticking out so far it looked like I was pregnant! Then I had a thought. I stuck out a lot further in the front when pregnant than most people, maybe I have had this a lot longer than I realised.
Drugs are not recommended! I avoid them due to the side-effects, often long-term. Physical hands-on therapy my help the lordosis - Bowen, and (better) NST can be effective. Ask me more if you like - I used to be one! Best TIMbowPSP
Thanks for your reply i have to take somethinv for the pain its causing
Medication is not for the lordosis, but for the psoriatic arthritis. If here is inflammation due to the PsA then physios have to be very careful about exercises and movement because it can cause more damage to the ligaments and tendons. The drugs are not to fix the lordosis, they are to slow the progression of the PsA. Without damping down the inflammation and enthesitis of PsA there is limited PT that is safe to do.
I have lordosis of the cervical spine, an unnatural straightness that was primarily caused by various disc prolapses (C5/6 & C6/7) along with subsequent muscle spasms. I’ve still got it even though I’ve had 2 x ACDF’s 15 years apart and now have cervical radiculopathy at those levels.
Kind Regards
Mitch
I’ve had Lordosis my entire life. In the 80s, my mom used to try to make me walk with books on my head and in high heels. She eventually realized that doesn’t work. My grandmother had lordosis. I don’t have pain from it, but my fat pad at my neck is more pronounced. I also have degenerative disc disease and Foraminal stenosis. I had spinal fusions in L4-5, C5-6-7.
Wow thank you for sharing, in my case the Lordosis causes pain and i have to take pain meds.
