I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1998 and have been getting progressively worse with pain and overwhelming fatigue and never finding any help or significant treatment. This last couple of months I have been really bad and once again visited my doctor to seek some relief. Following blood tests it has now been suggested I may have PMR but my gp won’t prescribe until I get the’urgent’appointment she has referred me for with rheumatology. Can anyone share their experience of diagnosis and treatment of PMR and any helpful forums

I was given a provisional diagnosis of fibromyalgia or Polymyalgia Rheumatica (in a telephone appointment)by my GP. Medication was not prescribed until I had a definite diagnosis as it would have masked evidence of the condition. Several Rheumatologists have since diagnosed PMR and Inflamatory Arthritis and prednisolone was prescribed for the PMR. I belong to the extremely informative and supportive PMRGCAuk forum as well as the NRAS forum which is also very good. Wishing you all the best.
