The only thing I found helpful was finding out that paracetamol is best taken all the time, not just when the pain gets worse. I take four doses a day and it keeps the pain within a reasonable and tolerable level.

I wondered if it was actually working so I I stopped taking it. Nothing really happened for a couple of days and I thought hey, maybe this is a placebo effect then, it only helps because I think it does. So I just got on with life. Expect by day 6 without paracetamol I was in agony and getting a lot worse. So I started taking it again and within a couple of days the pain was back to a manageable level again.

Because there is nothing that actually makes osteoarthritis better, all we can do is manage the pain. We will never actually be 100% pain free, but we can still be free to live our lives as well as possible.

We can also live in hope of course that the researchers actually keep taking the condition seriously and look for better treatments that actually stop the progression, and that once they do find them, the rheumatologists and GPs find out and start using them. But until then we can only manage the pain, not get rid of the osteoarthritis.

So agree, starting with a low dose of paracetemol and increasing until pain under control then maintaining dose is the secret, even if co codomal is included. Works for me. But and this is a big but, you must talk this over with your Doctor! I am lucky that my doctor gives me co codomol on repeat prescription and trusts me not to become addicted to it or overdose!

It is also important to remember that co-codomal contains paracetamol. It is worth getting a separate prescription for paracetamol and codeine so that you can take paracetamol all the time, and add the codeine at the lowest level for breakthrough pain. It is important not to take co-codomal and paracetamol at the same time as it is easy to take too much paracetamol which can affect the liver.

days70 research the fifth element - boron. Always consult your health care professional before using any supplement.

Your welcome days70, here is a link that provides a good overview titled"Nothing boring about boron." Although it mentions using 3 mg, your Gp will guide you to the proper dose. Also check on boron content in foods.
