Increased weight gain with pregablin.....any alternatives?

Hi, I am looking for help as I have put on around 2-3 stone after taking pregablin for about 2 years. I take 4x100mg per day pregablin & 3x10mg amitriptylene for muscle damage and nerve pain after a botched job operation. I am getting depressed as I have gained weight around my stomach & cannot shift it. The weight increase is causing me other problems such as acid reflux at night. Can anyone suggest a good alternative please as I am at my wits end.

Hi I also take pregablin and I too have put on 2 stones from a size 10 to a size 14/16 and was truly upset about it ive tried many diets whiteout success and in the end I've come to term with it do I want pain or a bit of weight that's the question having excepted it I feel better about it please try to come to terms with yours or go tell your doctor how you feel good luck and gentle hugs x

Hi, thank you so much for your kind words. I am so upset as I am getting married in September this year as feel so down about my weight. I feel like I am trapped in a fat body. Also I think because of my weight I am suffering from awful acid reflux as well. Never used to have this when I wasn’t carrying all this weight. I feel like I stuck in this awful cycle & cannot get out of it.

Imacca16 please get in touch with your doctor and tell them how you feel because if you don't things will get worse and its not fair that we have this awful illness but have to suffer with other things don't know if this will help but 7 year ago my husband was going to lose his job due to diabetes has tablets went working su he was going to have the injection but you can not drive a truck if you have the injection so I went and bought slimming World magazine and started a whole new us I was doing this so he didn't lose his job and and between us we list 11 stone and this was by following recipes out the magazine why don't you try it gentle hugs x

I was prescribed Pregabalin . I refused to take it when I saw the side affects of weight gain , I am already overweight .

Hi, I also take pregab and have put the dreaded two sones on. I have been on it four years for puedendal nerve damage. I have. Tried relentlessly but I cannot shift it. Can I ask I see you are taking amitryptyline, they have just given me this to take this week for muscle spasms but i haven’t taken it yet. Do you get any relief from it?

Hi Sandra, thank you for your reply😊. I do get relief from amitriptylene as I do notice when I haven’t taken it. I have taken it for about 4 years now & was previously on it to help with pain relief from endometriosis. I think it works for me. I take mine at night time just before I go to bed as it can make you tired. Hope that helps😊

I am on pregabalin and dihydrocodeine and put on weight as well. Not as much as you but still too much for my liking. Had 4 spine ops and definitely could do with loosing it to increase exercises. I was recommended cbd oil to try and help the referred nerve pain. I started it in January and have reduced the pregabalin from 600 a day to 250 and am hoping to carry on reducing it to nothing. I feel the body also gets used to it so when you try to stop or reduce it the nerve pain kicks in. If you want to try cbd oil make sure you try e reputable firm as there are lots of fraudsters about. I do feel it has helped me. I still get bad days or nights but feel good about reducing the dosage.
