hi. I have this weird dizziness ,it started around 2015 and iv had it on and off since ,the only way I can explain it is its like when you have a pair of glasses on that is magnified and you get that weird feeling with them on...I know this sounds crazy ,but the room does not spin or anything like that..when I turn my head to the left or right and look back again to the centre its like everything takes a second to catch up ...told you its weird ,does anyone else experience this? I have arthritis in my neck maybe its that ,im scared of having an MRI because of the enclosure of the machine ...I also worry its a brain tumour .
thanks for reading .

Hi lynstone60, sorry to hear you have suffered so long with it. I am supposing you've been to a doctor, had bloods taken, blood pressure done etc. As you have arthritis it could be that your uric acid levels in you blood are higher than normal and that could lead to crystals being deposited in the ear canals which could lead to strange signals being sent to the brain, thus the dizzyness. I too have a dizzyness, only when I move and have been diagnosed with gout which leads to what I have described above and gout is a form of arthritis. The jury is still out on the vertigo diagnosis tho. It's worth getting it checked out tho. There are simple exercises that may alleviate it for some time. If you have high BP this could also cause it. Maybe get your eyes checked when it's possible again.
Hi . Thank you so much for your reply ...yes iv had blood taken all came back ok,i have had my eyes tested as I do wear glasses for reading etc but don't have to wear them all the time....the dizziness just comes out of the blue ,I can be sitting watching tv then all of a sudden it will happen but as I explained the room does not spin ,its the weirdest feeling it really is...my blood pressure is good as I check it myself now and then ,had a full blood count done recently ,glucose levels cholesterol etc all satisfactory .I am going back to my doctor to see what else can be done apart from having an MRI they terrify me … I will keep you updated x
It could be laborynthitus. Think that’s how you spell it😉. I got a weird bout of it some months ago. It’s like when you stand up too quick and your brain sort of spins. I went to drs and gave me some tablets to help. But mostly I was told it goes away by itself. I’ve got arthritis too, so maybe connected?
I'm sorry I have no ideas but just wanted to say that for having an MRI you can be sedated. My ex has claustrophobia andhe was given valium for all his. Goodluck.
I have this same sensation that you mention, but for me it is more noticeable when I look down then up again. I have had this off and on for probably 30 years. CT scan of brain was normal. Like you, I check BP when it’s most annoying and it’s ok. The best I can think is that it’s an inner ear issue as I also have tinnitus. I have also had a few attacks of Benign Positional Vertigo (BPV), which really makes me think this is inner ear related.
