Exercise can release endorphins which can reduce our perception of pain. So if you can find an exercise that you enjoy it is likely to release endorphins which in turn will reduce your perception of pain.

However, there is not a lot of good evidence that exercise 'cures' pain or makes the pain go away or heals what ever it is that is causing the pain. Some of this might be because everyone is different and exercise isn't the right thing for everyone.

So if you find an exercise that works for you, go for it. But don't feel bad if you don't find it, because for some watching a good comedy film with loved ones will have the same effect.

yes.

Any movement/exercise whilst learning to use the right muscles - the main muscles of movement. the 5 (paired) muscles that form the central framework for the body when it is balanced and aligned.

Starting with:

pelvic floor - the solid Base foundation of the body.

and

rectus abdominis muscles -the body's central Line and core pillar of strength. Parallel panels of muscles that extend from pelvis to chest.

Think stronger and longer with every in breath.

Focusing on my Base-Line muscles has allowed me to slowly regain my natural range of movement and release the pain and tension on my body - "stored trauma". Working towards balance and alignment where movement is easy and pain-free.

The other main muscles of movement are:

The gluteus maximus (big ass muscles) and rectus femoris (a strong pole down the front of each thigh from hip bone to shin, aligning the hip and knee joints)

The trapezius muscles, from mid-back to back of the head, shoulder to shoulder like a blanket of muscle over our back and neck that should be unrestricted and wrinkle free.

Focus on connecting with these muscles, starting with your Base-Line. Feel how to move. I used the roll-down action a lot, supported by my Base-Line.

Being in water was great, taking the strain of the body whilst moving about. I got ideas for movement from yoga, Tia chi, ballet etc. but my body was to tense and restricted it was a long time before I could do many of the moves.

Connecting with my Base-Line, feeling my core pillar of strength and working from there was the key to my recovery.

Hi Gelrick,

Where are you experiencing pain?

I experienced pain in my knees due in part to the pounding I put them through when younger, deterioration from age and from being chunky. The pain in my knees affected the way I walked, and subsequently, my gait changed and affected my hips and ankles, the simple act of walking was a real struggle.

Then I discovered an excellent book titled Heal Your Knees by Rober Klapper and Lynda Huey which advocated exercising in a pool and beside the pool. Incorporating juicing, I embarked upon a gentle programme of walking, exercising in the pool and gym work, and after two months, most of the pain had gone.

I can explain more if you wish, but in essence, I found exercise does help alleviate pain, but it depends where the pain is, and I would definitely recommend speaking with your GP/MD.

I hope this helps in some way.
