Good afternoon to all, sorry that I haven’t been on in awhile. I’m hoping that someone could tell me about Lidocaine infusion?

Hi Gregger. My hubby suffer from hand/arm vibration white finger and secondary Raynauds quite severely and has been in chronic pain for over 10 years. Without a long list he had tried most types of pain relief from acupuncture to morphine patches.

In January he had his first lindocaine infusion. They take from 1 to 3 hours to infuse under supervision as an out patient in hospital. There can be varied effects such as a child feeling in your arm - google for these side effect as they vary from person to person, during which are minimised by slowing the infusion. Following leaving hospital my hubby slept most of that day. However the pain relief has been amazing. He still doesn't have feeling in his hand however he isn't in pain. Under his Drs guidance he joined a disabled gym and local council healthy eating plan. He goes 4 times a week (that came from when he used the gym 20 years ago) and has lost 3 stones and is more himself. Remarkable!

I must add that each person responds differently and their length of pain relief and side effects differ.

Techy bit - Lindocaine is a cocaine derivative that does wear off but leaves residual pain relief that in our experience works.

If you have been advised to try this by a medical professional in my opinion try it.

Hope this helps. If you can I would love to know how you get on. I have my old husband back.

Good luck

Hi. I went to the Pain Clinic a couple of weeks ago and he has prescribed Lidocaine patches which I have yet to get as he has to get funding for them as they are very expensive. However, if these do not work he has said he would try a Lidocaine infusion but he frightened me a bit saying about side effects but I am still willing to try it. Really hope it works for you and do let us know how you get on.
