costochondritis is a diagnosis for a set of symptoms. What is the cause? Different causes can have the same symptoms. One cause is a tight muscle causing constantly pulling on the structure. Pain killer is not going to help this at all. Visit to a McTimony chiropractor will probably remove the problem. Another cause is poor posture. The head is heavy and if not balanced on top of the spine will/can cause some muscles to over tighten with the resultant possibility of symptoms of costochondritis. This is Alexander Technique territory.
Only you can investigate if the above two possibilities are the cause of your problem.
Another cause could be a connective tissue disorder such as hypermobile Ehlers Danlos. A lot of GPs don't know about it but there is a special RCGP toolkit they can use to see if you have it. rcgp.org.uk/clinical-and-re...
