Nail Fungus: I feet suffer from a chronic nail... - Pain Concern
Nail Fungus
Hi Alanjones, I too have a foot fungus as well as a fungal ball in my lung. Try vick's vapor rub on your toes. It worked well on mine for awhile anyway.
Coconut oil. I used this on my husbands nail daily for 6 weeks and it cleared it up
Thank you for your suggestion, it is well worth a try. Inexpensive as well.
Exactly. I first tried it after seeing the rather extortionate price of the nail varnish type remedies. I did a little research and found the coconut oil remedy. Good luck with it you must do it daily
If you have tried the over the counter lacquers from your pharmacist and they haven't worked then go to your GP because you will probably need to treat it systemically, that is take a drug.
I struggled with this for years, trying all the folk remedies, none of which would work. in the end it was so bad that even the lacquer didn't work but the drugs did, knocked it right in the head, but it does take several months for the new nail to grow in properly.
Thanks for your input, I believe you are right because over the counter lacquer's have not worked for me either.
Amorolfine 5% w/v medicated nail lacquer is what my gp gave me. It is painted on after cleaning and filing the affected nail and is done once a week. Everything you need comes in the box.
Initially discuss the problem with your chemist, they may have a cream to help clear up the problem. However I understand you have traveled this pathway.
If that fails discuss your problem with your GP, He may arrange an appointment with a Podiatrist

Hi there My husband who is diabetic and this is often a problem with diabetes used Tea Tree cream not the oil with remarkable results. Not a quick fix but gentle progress until it cleared completely. Now he just smears a little on weekly as a preventative. The cream can be located in the budget shops depending who has it in stock it is about one pound.
Best wishes

The only thing that completely clears this up is terbinafine tablets on prescription. Don't expect a quick result, it can take 3-6 months, but it works. And I know this because I also get repeated fungal infections in my toe nails! Good luck!
