I am not going to mention Christmas. Nor say how, in 7 days time, I will be in shorts and flop flips stuffing the turkey.. And certainly never mention the Festival of Carols from Kings. Which for me has been part of my life for unpty doodle years.
However a question or statement.
David's GP has prescribed him liquid paraffin for IBS. Twice a day for ever.
I was shocked and wondered if something has been lost in translation?

I think that I would prefer Lactulose medicine. Is there any reason he can't take it? Doesn't like it?
Thought liquid paraffn was outdated. Obviously not, but - long term ?? Also thought if was just for short term relief.
However I'm not a doctor!
Would David be happy to take a Fybogel Orange every evening? And the Lactulose twice daily. Then when regular, cut Lactulose down to once? Extra water / fluids essential though.
Anyway - wasn't there some concern about accidental inhalation of the fumes. Don't think I'd be happy to take it for life.😮
Under his consultant back in Scotland David tried assorted meds. None worked. He never gets constipation...the complete opposite. Extreme pain with little warning.
Sadly part of the effects of his back trauma means he has virtually no bowel control either.
GP here has misunderstood his needs and a further visit will be made. This time with an interpreter! He is very good usually but lost something in translation over this one!
