Magnesium does a fantastic job in stopping cramps. But I was having horrible cramps in my feet and it has totally stopped those cramps. One word of caution magnesium can also make you have loose stools.
When you say cramps, are you sure it's not numbness? There could be several reasons for cramps most commonly is low mineral salts... i.e. magnesium etc. A banana at night before bed can help to relax the muscles. Also magnesium supplements- some types have the effect of looser stools, such as food grade epsom salts. I take magnesium malate... but if you look up different types of magnesium on the net it will tell you what the effects are. Be aware most supplements contain fillers and binders, magnesium stearate isn't good for you. So look at what else any supplement contains... ideally try to get it from your diet, there's a lot of information on the net about the best sources from food.. If after trying that it continues, go to see your gp.
I feel for you,i have had some horrific cramps that have left a massive lump that had to be broken down by a machine used by physios to break down bug bruises.I take magnesium every day and if i feel a cramp coming on which is only ever in my legs i will stand up and place my feet as flat as i can on the floor. Then if able i will take a couple more magnesium tablets. This is the only thing that helps me.Good luck to you all out there.
I know I keep banging on about Magnesium, but it really helped me. I used to be so uncomfortable in bed even with my Tempa mattress and adjustable bed. I got such awful cramps they used to make my legs hurt the next day. Since taking Magnesium the cramps have gone and the 'restless leg' syndrome has also resolved. Might be worth trying.
Thank you all for your words of advice I am looking into my diet and magnesium supplements and will see how I go
