I have had bone fusions in my right foot, bone taken away that was affected with chronic arthritis and metal work added. I walk with crutches as my last op was in August 2016. Also I wear an orthopedic boot to support my foot. My left foot is worsening and I have been told that it can't be done until the right is ok.
The problem I have, this is now op No. 4, and its never taken. Every op I hope that this is the one. After No.3, My consultant removed a plate in my Rightfoot and found more bone had eroded. So I went ahead to Number 4.
Has anyone experienced this? Has it worked or did you say enough is enough, I'll manage?
Thanks

Hi Metalbones. I have erosive RA and other conditions, but feet have been affected by this. Ten years ago I had a triple foot fusion in my left foot and a year later a screw taken out that had pushed through the bottom of my foot. Had a triple foot fusion on the right foot about 2 years after, having also had a tendon transfer in my left hand, and new knuckles in my right hand, all this had to be fitted in once recovery from one op to the other. About 3 years ago had my right ankle collapse, couldn't face another major op so had some bone removed from the bottom of my foot and toes pinned. Still can't face the 2 major ops needed to correct this, so I am managing this, still under the National Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. In March this year got OA in my lower back, making walking even harder but saw a physio, do exercises and I stay as active as possible. I also have osteoporosis and have had 2 fractures in my right foot. I keep my weight in check and on an anti inflammatory diet and while I can manage at age 71 I will. Good luck with how you chose to to proceed.
