I'm afraid I've never heard of it so I did a search and found this:
arthritisresearchuk.org/art...
It sounds like it's for rheumatoid arthritis and similar conditions in order to reduce inflammation. Is that what you've got?
Yes thanks Caroline, i have among other things Ankylosing Spondalitus, but because i suffer with AF i am no longer able to take pain killers other than the codeine family, so i am left with no other choice but to try this new drug.
But as its new i am trying to find other users with heart related problems to make sure it does not interfere with any treatments or drugs in regard to that.
I also am type 2 diabetic so my immune system really is not good already so when taking Golimumab it wipes out my immune system completely leaving me wide open to all infections. Including many skin cancers, so i am very apprehensive.
But it does do what i need, and thats giving me back my neck movement and release me from this horrid pain, so its not all bad, so i am trying to weigh up the good and bad points
Drug is used for many conditions Simponi (golimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation. Simponi is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or ulcerative colitis.
It's widely used it's expensive but effective
No you aren't a guinea pig. It has been used for a while now, and is very commonly (and safely) used in rheumatology. Hope you really do have success with it.
I'm on simponi for AS it works really well. ive be on it for nearly a year, only one flare in a year, which lasted a couple of weeks not months. I just wish I could be rid of the fibro so I could have my life back
