Hello

The doses for nuro pain are generally quite low, as the medication is normally given for depression. The contraindication is what the medication has been given for. I cannot see that this will affect mood.

If you are not happy regarding this medication your GP will advise, Remember I am not a GP so I would always bow to their decision

most folk find that even the lowest dose will be a bit sedating first thing in the morning for a few days, but you do quickly get used to it. Some folk get enough response on 10 mg a day to not need to increase it either. To get over the initial mild zombie effect, take it a full 12 hours before you want to wake in the morning. If you started taking it on a Friday night, then you may well be over the worst of the getting used to it by Monday for work.

it is actually proven to be very effective as a pain modifier in those low doses (10-25 mg a day), especially for neuropathic pain, so good luck with it and I hope it does work well for you.

I don't take Elavil but the pain clinic at the moment is allowing me to self regulate my medications to make sure I still have total function for work. Whenever I take a dose increase of amitriptyline or pregabalin I always try to on Thursday night or Friday so any silly effects can be cancelled out by work Monday morning. All people have different reactions to medications just be careful and earthwitch and borderriever offer sensible advice!! I didn't get the zombie effect, but the TV moving across the room was rather difficult to explain to my boss with a straight face!! Keep smiling!

Sorry this a drug I have not as hope it helps I understand your thoughts about side effects

Has the neurosurgeon checked you for micro muscle cramps. If you have those in the wrong places you can get pain and discomfort particularly if a micro cramp is impinging on a nerve. To check for micro cramps you need to check with your hands.

Masseurs have been working on muscle problems for years with good results.

I am on 25 mg withdrawing from it and it is a killer. I'm suffering a lot!! I wouldn't recommend Elavil.
