Hello
You would get a good explanation on NHS CHOICES web pages.
It is generally caused by knocking for example a hand, and you get a burning sensation of pain in the damaged area, generally the after a time should go away, this was thought to have been a problem with the mind, although now the understanding is it is a condition in its own right

Hi, I have just been diagnosed with CRPS following a sudden Cellulitis last August. The original trauma was very difficult to treat and I came close to amputation twice. Since then I have never been pain free despite Morphine and pregabalin medication.
I am in the process of a medical capability hearing @ work as my mobility is so restricted and i worked in the community this is something that I could never have imagined when it all started 16 months ago.
I have found some use full info and presentations by specialists in CRPS on you tube, I don't think that the NHS Choices gives a realistic view of life with CRPS. Its only my opinion and most of what I've found seems to be from America, but, sometimes the UK is lead by America
Its worth a look
Good luck
