This is so strange. My GP is taking me off Gaberpentin and starting me on Amytriptiline for pain associated with sciatica. I have just been reading the pros and cons of this drug. I was surprised to see your comments. I must now find your original posting and get comments.

Amytriotiline is great for me... But excess sweating is the down side.

Ask for Oxybutynin. It's really for bed wetting! But it is working for me after only 5 days! Brilliant!

I would ask your physician to try you on pregablin rather than Amytriptiline,it is related to gabapentin but far far better but exspensive, that's the route I took, all the best Steve.

We are going to try it next year. Playing around with other meds first. But taking Oxybutynin now and sweating stopped - just about!

That might explain my Husbands continued 'hot flushes' which he gets frequently.

See my other posts....

Well after one month of 5mg twice a day of using Oxybutynin for the sweating, it has stopped working..

My daughter was on Amytriptiline for a few months until her paediatrician suggested Nortriptyline instead as it has fewer side-effects.
