Just another name I forgot to add to my list of things that I've been given from reading over the reports I've had over the years, I'd be glad if I could be given a little more on this spider-like name, from other sufferers or even not sufferers, just another little piece of help to guide my dreams

Hi' anyone know what arachnodoitisis is (hope I've spelled it correctly)
Arachnoiditis is a neuropathic disease caused by inflammation of the arachnoid, one of the membranes known as meninges that surround and protect the nerves of the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. The arachnoid can become severely inflamed because of adverse reactions to chemicals, infection from bacteria or viruses, as the result of direct injury to the spine, chronic compression of spinal nerves, or complications from spinal surgery or other invasive spinal procedures. Inflammation can sometimes lead to the formation of scar tissue and adhesion that can make the spinal nerves "stick" together. This can be extremely painful.
Thank you google
nutty
Arachnoiditis,is inflammation of the arachnoide membrane that covers the spine. Associated problems are tingling and pain that can cause severe disability.Nuro pain is also a problem here I understand that the tests for the condition are about the same as would be problems with the spine And treatments would reflect that
Generally the condition is really difficult too treat, although physio and other treatments may be undertaken to lighten the load There are some operations for the condition although they do not have good recovery rates. You would possibly need courses at Pain management also other support may be required.
Remember I am not a GP so not qualified regarding advice on this, GP and Specialist will need to see you for tests etc
Check internet for further informations
All the best

Thank you' both, I am relieved to know that at least the diagnosis agrees with my own levels of pain, I must remember to try and remember the name alongside all the other names that have cropped up every time I see another doctor, and yes my both ' sorry three differing consultants all said the same about operating, again thank you
Alex, when I get a severe flare up of back pain, I always fear arachnoiditis. However, there is a school of thought, medical, which states that the problem is disc related, especially where there is a completely dessicated or "black" disc. The nerves clump around it and the foramin, causing much inflammatory pain. If the disc can be ifentifued, it can be treated. A better prospect than the notion of arachnoiditis!
Acachnoiditis - my dictionary says that is thickening and scarring (fibrosis) of the membranous lining of the spinal canal. The resulting entrapment of nerve roots may result in weakness, pain and numbness of the infected area. I use the "Oxford Concise Medical Dictionary.
