My understanding is that MRI is very accurate - too accurate in some cases as the results can seem overly detailed and scary. I do believe though that good old x-ray is best for detecting some bony problems? May be wrong there though.

mri is pretty accurate but no scan or x-ray is 100% perfect, with MRI the quality of the scan can vary according to a persons size eg. if you are overweight it may not be as accurate. but even if a scan is a good quality scan there are other factors such as wether contrast was used and then lastly the same as any kind of x-ray or scan, the interpretation of the scan will vary from one radiologist to another- often remarkably so - so basically they are pretty accurate but not 100%, they are only part of the story that needs to be taken in context with other information.

as for compression fracture treatment, that varies too depending of the the location, the cause and if the fracture is still basically stable- compression fractures can be very unstable (usually from trauma and may need surgery if there is a risk of cord injury. other times its just a case of pain killers and time. i had 3 crudhed lumbar vertabra after falling from my wheelchair and landing on a hard bathroom floor- i had what was called a vertabraplasty in which they inject bone cement into the vertabra under x-ray guidance to help stabilise the fragments- i have osteoporosis though and i think this treatment is usually only used in osteoporotic fractures and even then not all the time- once again a lot depends and the specific situation i guess

Thanks kebsa, the reason why l ask this question is that, the result list out osthroposis and suspected mymola but not sure and they advise for more clinical test. I was referred to specialist, his concussion is blood disorder.bone marrow biosy was carried out l told him l don't have what they are looking for. He had skeleton x-ray done nothing of plasma or mymola shown expect sign of arthriiat.Thank God the result was negative. Now I was sent back to neurologist who also think it is plasma that might cause the compression, it is agin they are not sure. His registry advise an open surgery to obtain biosy from my spinal cord. I told him no that is no. He try put fear in me I stood by my word. I told him I have done my research then he change his word and made a call the doctor he spoke with advise CT scan and Ulstrasound. I am waiting for appointment for this. I am 100 % sure and believe that the result will be negative.

Hi Esther12, ye you have no problems with a MRI, very accurate as someone else said, gives a lot of information.

Since 2006, when my symptoms started, I've had 5, am now waiting to go for either a CT scan or a MRI to look into my situation again.

So, yes, you have no worries, its just like lying in a bid tumble dryer, oh, you can get music played to you.
