G-CSF Injections

Hi Paul
I hope that things are going as well as they can for you both.
The official information on any drug is contained in the "Summary of product characteristics" , the company is required to submit a certain amount of data to the regulatory authorities , so the info in this document is highly credible. You can find this by googling it.It also gives you the incidence of each side effect I.e. very common , common or rare side effects.
Good luck and much love to you both

I had to give myself these injections for the last two cycles of chemo. I had to have it for three days prior to cycle 2 and for two days prior to cycle 3. It did increase my neutrophils substantially. It did give me pain in my back and hips and also a bit of a headache but I took paracetamol until it wore off.
Good luck and best wishes

I had to have these injections 3 times during my gem/carbo treatment. I found that the 7 were a bit too much it was then lowered to 5 and that was ok for me. So bear in mind if Sandra has some side affects it may be too much and she may have to reduce it still enabled me to carry on with the treatment.
Regards Barbara
Thanks for that, just given her 2nd jab today, still 5 to give. At what point did the jabs give you problems. Love Px
It was after the 5 I just felt drained I didnt realise it was the injections until I told the Onc how drained I had felt.
This was one of the down sides for me with this regime when you go all prepared and feel ok
then that blood tests comes back and No chemo today. It does get frustrating because we .
want the treatment and dont want it hanging around for longer.
You may find that Sandra may be ok with the 7 As usual with this disease we all seem to be different.I wonder whether thats a good thing or not.
Regards Barbara.
Hi Paul
I had these for three days after the final four cycles. I was told I might get pains in the legs but I didn't notice anything above the normal horrible post chemo stuff. They did do the trick and I didn't have any more chemo sessions postponed.
Best of luck
Love Mary xx
Hi Paul
I am on carbo gem as my second line treatment. My neutr were low so I had to have 3injections of filigrastan which I think is the same. I felt terrible with it. I experienced throbbing back pain which I found frightening I got very dry mouth. It knocked stuffing out of me and I hardly moved off sofa for three days. I then experiaced discomfort in my left side it felt like it was under my ribs. I went to A&e with this as suspected a blood clot but all was ok. This discomfort has continued on and off for two weeks. Oncologist says it is probably due to injections agrivating bone in ribs.
I was surprised at how bad I felt as I was only warned I might get a few aches and pains.
The good part is they worked and got my chemo.
I hope Sandra feels better soon it is a difficult thing to deal with. It certainly upset me and I don't normally get upset with this kind of thing

Thanks for the advice, she is feeling crap at mo but putting it down to chemo, no joint pains yet after 3 jabs but we are expecting something soon. How is your response to the treastment, is it working etc. Love. P x
Hi Paul,
I have had the injections many times for low WCC. Never more than 4 at a time. Always flu like feeling associated with joint pain and particularly throbbing in hips ( iliac crests )
amd chest(sternum) both sites of white cell production. This was more evident if I tried to rush or exert myself and settled soon after with rest. Paracetamol taken regularly helped but I think 7 days of it will be challenging.
Wish your wife well.
Best wishes,
Brid
