I just wanted to share this notice with you from Ovarian Cancer Action in case any of you feel it would be helpful.

The Rarer Cancers Foundation's Patient Empowerment Day

The Rarer Cancers Foundation is holding a patient day for cancer patients, carers and their families on Monday 3rd June at the Holiday Inn London – Bloomsbury from 10am to 3:30pm. This event aims to give patients, carers and their family members a better understanding of the care and support they should expect after a diagnosis with a rare cancer (which includes ovarian cancer). The conference will explore many of the options available to patients such as: referrals, second opinions, specialist cancer centres, clinical trials, radiotherapy, access to drugs and much more. It will also include an exciting session which will focus on how patients can help to campaign for improvements and better outcomes at both a local and national level.

Attendees will also be able to participate in a 1 to 1 session with advocacy experts where they will be able to receive advice and support to help overcome specific barriers. For example during these sessions you can discuss how to access the latest treatments, lack of information and support, access to clinical nurse specialists etc.

If you are interested in attending please email me (Abi Begho Target Ovarian Cancer - Abi@ovarian.org.uk) for more information and a registration form.

Places are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

I've just looked at the details again and would love to go. I have a meeting in London on the Wednesday and am toying with a 3-day stay so I can do the both. I have to juggle commitments here and I also worry I'm spending too much time away from home these days on my OC mission.

If you're well enough I'd love to catch up with you. xxx love Annie

In fact I do think it would be a good idea if someone from the site goes along and posts up a report of the day's information. xxxx

Dear Adele

It would be great if someone could go along and post up some of the information. I'm in London on Wednesday of that week so don't feel able to go down on the Monday as well.

There seem to be so many helpful topics - getting on to clinical trials, getting a second opinion, etc.

Hope all's well with you. xxx love Annie
