Has anyone suffered from increasing fatigue after chemo has ended? What is your experience?

Hi Sara

Although I'm on chemo yet again, last December when I finished my previous course I was extremely fatigued and had very little energy at all. I went to NZ for 6 weeks and from day 2 there started to take some gentle exercise. Just walking for 10 minutes a day for a few days then 20 minutes and finally at least 30 minutes. until after about 4 weeks my energy levels started to return. In between times I rested a lot and I think it's important not to get too frustrated about the fatigue, just go with it, and try to gradually build your stamina up to a level where you feel able to function reasonably well, I also found that I gradually started eating more and whatsmore enjoying food again which also helped me. After a couple of months I really felt well although I never got back completely to pre-chemo days. Sorry I can't tell you about a magic pill as for me it was a gradual process..

Good luck - Meryl XXXXX

Hi Sara

I stopped chemotherapy 2 months ago and still feel fatigued. As Meryl says though, I think fatigue tends to perpetuate fatigue and so try and do a little exercise each day and find it helps. Hope you improve soon.
