Hi Woolton!

It sounds as if the team who are looking after you are just keeping an eye on how things are going. It can only help with finding out what is going on inside, so that they can tailor the treatment more effectively if necessary.

I'm sure it's reassuring rather than scary!

Good luck

Hi Wendy

I have been worrying since I opened the letter this morning feel sick, thank you so much for your reassuring answer

Cheers

I agree with Wendy. I had a 2nd CT scan at the beginning of my chemo. They like to have a picture so that they can see how the situation is changing during chemo.

You don't say if you've had surgery or a previous scan, but don't read anything 'sinister' into it.

Very best wishes,

Isadora.

Hi Isadora

I have had hysterectomy, large tumour removed and quite a bit of bowel as tumour had grown from ovary into bowel - have a stoma because of this - so I am super stressed suppose its good there keeping an eye on things

Cheers

Hi Christine,

It is usual to have a ct. scan on the third chemo to check if the chemo is doing the job

If not then they would try a different chemo...so don't worry about this... my guess is that by the time you have the ct. you will be having your third chemo or at least coming up to it and this is standard practice having had chemo twice now...two and a half years apart...if you are still worried you could give the OvaCome helpline a ring they will reassure you it's Ruth Payne tel 0845 3710554 best wishes love x G x

Hi Christine,

I just want to welcome you to the club no one wants to join...you will get a lot of support on here and the OvaCome helpline is so good to have...they are only too willing to help..so please don't feel nervous about ringing them...my advice to you is to keep a medical diary if you don't already..I keep an academic one as it starts in August (this is when I was diagnosed) I am on my fifth diary now...mostly I don't have anything to write but jot down every ache/pain/medication/tests etc it is surprising how you forget these things...also if you have any questions write them down before your checkup as you tend to forget this as well love x G x :-)

Hi!

I had regular scans throughout chemo. They use them to assess the effectiveness of the chemo. I used to joke with the technicians that they could go and havea coffee and I'd do it myself! The last one I had i actually saw on the computer when I saw the onc! Fascinating! He showed me my liver, kidneys, bladder and, of course, the new tumour (that was removed last December). I do not mind the CT scans but I found the MRI very long and noisy! I am having another MRI soon!

Good luck!

Hi there... I had a scan before chemo started which was used as a baseline measure. Then I had one half way through chemo (carboplatin) which was 3 treatments in. Finally, I had one at the end to check how the final results looked. I've had one since then but none since. I think it's just routine and nothing to worry about. :)
