Yes, I did. And, in addition, informally I had a chat with another gynae onc. who was a friend of a friend. They all seemed to take the same line, which I guess can be reassuring. I would recommend this, as different consultants can give you different perspectives, if you are unsure. Just don't take too long about gaining the second opinion in order not to delay your treatment. Good luck!

Ta! SaraL I may be looking at a 2nd opinion after my surgery depending on outcome.

I have sought second opinions twice. Once after first line failed, and now that second line has failed. I am sure it is a good idea, but you have to be sure that just as you would get reassurance if they agree - what will you do if they do not. I would recommend going to the top if you can make it to London or one of the other larger citiies ovacome will give you names. Alternatively they can tell you your best local oncologist.

Whether the advice is right even on a second opinion, is a different matter. Hint: my second line chemo also failed even though they supported the initial decision! It is often down to the personal experience of the persion you see. However, if things were easy then none of us would be worrying about which chemo to have next.

I did wonder if it may be best not to let the second opinion person know what has been recommended to you, because are you really going to get 2 NHS Doctors contridicting each other?
