I have had one course of chemo carbo/taxol which my cancer did not respond to. I am awaiting a operation date.

Will they give me a different chemo drug after surgery?

It probably depends upon what types of tumour they find when thye opersate - but if you want to talk it through ask your nurse specialist, or the Ovacome nurses.

Very best wishes,

Isadora.

Hi

Don't know if this is any use, but I did not respond to the carbo/taxol before operation. After op I was told the taxol had not worked, and so I was given carbo and gemcitabine which seems to have worked, at least for the time being. Check up end of May.

Good luck.

Good luck sunny1, It seems quite common that carbo/taxol does not work with a ovarian patients but carbo/gemcit does. Why do the NHS trusts push carbo/taxol as a 1st treatment. I feel they do not look into what cancer it could be initially enough and that leads to prolonged treatment. Anyone any thoughts on that? I feel you will be in very good hands at the Marsden sunny.
