hello Lita5

Yes i had reflux both times i had chemo. Have you mentioned it to the team? As they out me on lansoprazole and that settled it down, i tried pretty much everything else first.

Good luck

Thanks Bettyxxx, I di ask my team and they did prescribed lansoprazole but barely touched the pain. Recently I’ve tried a little milk of magnesium and it seemed to help . Thanks for your reply

Hi Lisa, I take Lansoprazole and for me is like a wonder drug as it stops my acid reflux. Ask your doctor.

Good luck.

Hi. I was already on a proton pump inhibitor like lanaprazole and added Pepcid (ranitidine) 20 mg, even twice a day. My chemo nurse suggested it- and it helped. Also lots of water, elevating your upper body at night, and what we call ginger snaps (cookies) in the US.

You may be offered lansoprazole or any one of those proton pump inhibitor drugs; I don''t find they work for me, so I take an HC agonist anti acid drug called famotidine instead, its another prescription drug which works on a different pathway than the 'prazole' drugs. Ask your oncologist or doctor to prescribe one or the other. Note that ranitidine is no longer available globally, it was withdrawn about five years back - famotidine is usually used instead.
