Tomorrow is finally the day of my MRI after waiting 3 1/2 months since the ultrasound and CT scan couldn't be sure of a mass or not.

After having to postpone my original MRI appt last month due to the death of my mother, I am finally getting it done tomorrow.

Those who haven't read my previous posts, a fibroid and possible ovarian mass were found on an incidental CT scan back in March where I was diagnosed with diverticulitis after stomach pains. The results for both say the left ovary could not be visualized and they can't tell if it's a pedunculated fibroid or a fibroid and also a mass.

I don't have any symptoms and the stomach pain was just diverticulitis which cleared up a few days later, but I've gone down every rabbit hole looking for info about pedunculated fibroids vs ovarian masses.

I am hoping they will finally be able to tell what it is. Do you think if they are still unsure, or even if they can tell it's just a fibroid that I would have to have any kind of biopsy or surgery?

starrynight5626 You got this! Good luck with your procedure today. From having many waiting periods, my experience tells me that your most important goal right now, from my view, is to help your body out of the fight or flight mode. Focus on the test of today, but see if you can help your body get into a more peaceful state, more relaxed, by meditating, breathing, eating very well and drinking enough water. All these things go hand in hand. And it will help you with other stages of whether related or unrelated to this much anticipated medical exam. If you have any doubts about this, you might want to read Radical Remissions by Dr Kelly Turner. And you don’t need to be a cancer patient to appreciate the value of those case studies. There is an audio book, docuseries, a second updated book, Radical Hope, and Harvard is conducting its own study on such cases. The lessons in there gives much credence to 9-10 factors that have helped these patients manage or overcome their disease. Getting a handle on stress, and releasing bad emotions seem to in that group. I’m just mentioning this bc you have been through so much esp with the death of your mom as well. This prevention and healing journey is a package deal. Wishing you peace, calm, support, and excellent medical team that will continue to turn over every stone and leave you reassured you are under good care. Be careful of what you read on the internet. Many of us have terrifying diseases for which there is little or limited cure, in conventional settings but we can’t be messin’ about with whatever is out there on the net, even in medical journals. We must develop a balance and an educated way about processing the data and studies and their context. Easy does it. Sending you hugs and reassurance that, “you got this!” Believe in your healing powers (you wouldn’t have gotten this far without them!!) and help put your body in a healthy state, mentally and physically. No easy task, but you’ll thank yourself!! And you know you can do it. You’ll have info from today’s test in due time, right? You’re making progress. Keep posting! ❤️🌷❤️

Thanks for your words of encouragement! I am guessing I'll have results within a few hours of the MRI. They always say 24-48 hours but I usually have them pretty quick. I will update here when I do.

Had my MRI yesterday morning and thought sure I'd see the results in my My Chart a few hours later, but still nothing. My ultrasound and CT images came back within 2 hours of having them done. Hoping there's nothing wrong and they are just delayed for some other reason.

I am sorry about the loss of your mum - what a really difficult time you must have been going through. I hope all goes well with the mri - the waiting is absolutely the worst! I am not sure about diagnostic tests but one thing I am sure of - they will make sure it is not cancer - if they say it is not. So in other words - they will make sure every test is carried out to ensure if it is - you get the right treatment at the soonest point. I really hope that it is not. Good luck.

I am in a similar boat, but CT and MRI scans gave no clarity on the mass which they think is either a Dermoid cyst or Granulosa Cell Tumour

I am getting a total hysterectomy and they’ll send the mass away to histology

The waiting is brutal and exhausting

I hope you get some clarity from the scan today
