Hi Curry 55. I didn't actually refuse maintenance therapy but I was never offered it. I was stage 3C in 2013 so have lasted a long while without it. I don't know if it was even available back then. Hope this helps. Zena x
Maintenance therapy didn't exist when I was treated. Still here 18 years later, no recurrence.
Maintenance drug I am not thinking of coming off it when I have my scan and results Can I ask your journey with if Was it high grade cancer that was aggressive thank you
Hi Curry 55. I was diagnosed 3c in February 22. Had op then chemo, finishing October 22. Chemo was delayed a few times because neutrophils were so low. I was given the choice to have Niraparib or not. I thought about it, having read all the information, then told my oncologist I did not want it. It was only then that she agreed with my decision. I'm 74 now and am still ok. I’m fine most of the time; my digestive system has played up ever since which does give me the odd reason to worry but am generally positive and am grateful for each day.
All best wishes, Angela
no. I took Avastin. It worked for many years. I encourage you to do what your Onco recommends. Otherwise, have frequent bloodwork/ scans. Good Luck.
I was very grateful to be eligible for a PARP inhibitor and bevecizumab. Compared to the adjuvant chemotherapy it is very manageable. What is putting you off?
Hi. I refused Avastin after frontline (HG 3B) and recurred 8 months later. After second chemo I was on Olaparib for 3 years then one more year ned on nothing and now in chemo for second recurrence.
I am on olaparib as I am brca positive. Two year course is getting over this June and if given an option, I will continue with it. If you have an option, please check it out before turning it down.
